Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend Clint, Hunter, and myself went to Lake Sam Rayburn for a family vacation. We rented a "waterfront" cabin. Since the lake was about 10-11ft low it was more like a beach front cabin, but was perfect! When we arrived late Thursday night Hunter must have known it was vacation time because he was being so silly and kept squealing with excitement.

We tried to smoothly transition him from the car to the pack-and-play we set up in the cabin but we failed miserably. He was laughing and squealing so much we couldn't help but let him play for a little while.

It was a long night because it took us a while to get Hunter to settle back down but it was worth it!! The next morning Daddy got up early to go fishing while Hunter and I slept in. Then we got up and cooked breakfast and called Daddy when it was ready. We had to improvise because we didn't remember to pack Hunter's highchair, so I had to stack him up on pillows. He thought he was such a big boy!

After breakfast we went for a little boat ride with Daddy. This was Hunter's first trip on the boat and he loved it...can't you tell? Actually he was so worn out from the night before that he slept the WHOLE boat ride!

After the boat ride we went back to the cabin and played on the beach in front of our cabin. Hunter LOVED it. He would walk up the beach then turn around and laugh and come running downhill into the water. [I took those pictures with a disposable camera so I will have to update this again once I get them back.] After we played in the lake for about an hour it was time to go eat lunch and snuggle up for an afternoon nap. 

Then Hunter and Mommy went golfing with Daddy. It was hot out there but we had cold towels, water bottles, and a plastic gun that made bubbles.....doesn't get much better than that!! Here was Daddy showing Hunter how to hit the ball.

After golf we went back inside to cool off for a little while before going on a sunset cruise :)

Then the next day we got up and did it all over again! This time when we went for a boat ride in the morning Hunter actually stayed awake! He had fun pulling the rope (stringer) that Daddy had put a fish on. Every time Hunter pulled the rope, the fish swam close the boat. He loved it! Then we played in the lake for a little while. There were a ton of kids there on Saturday so Hunter enjoyed watching them and splashing in the lake. [Again, those pictures are on the disposable camera]

Then it was nap time. Hunter was so exhausted that he took a 3 hour nap....while we cooked and ate lunch, took a nap ourselves, and got up.

After playing in the lake again, we came inside to cool off and eat dinner. Then we headed out for part 2 of our sunset cruise.

The next morning (our last morning at the lake) Daddy found some clams and Hunter LOVED playing with them (poor clams).

All in all we had a BLAST with Hunter at the lake. This may be the beginning of a traditional Laskoskie family vacation. :)
