Hunter is a survivor

As of 9-18-2012 Hunter is tonsil and adenoid free! Since Hunter has been sick basically every month of his life, his doctor said it was time to remove his tonsils and adenoids. Typically doctors won't remove tonsils until kids are 3 years old but his were so bad that they decided to go ahead with the surgery. Since he was so young though, they required an overnight hospital stay.

Bright and early Tuesday morning we took Hunter to the hospital. He knew something was up but wasn't quite sure what was going on. The doctor gave him some special "juice" to help him relax before they took him away from us. He kept telling us that he wanted to "ride fast" on the hospital bed so we told him the nurses would take him for a ride and them bring him back to Mommy and Daddy. Yes, I cried when they took him off.....how could you not....look at that angel's drugged up face :)

Right before they took him back :)

Lauran snoozing waiting for Hunter to get out of surgery

The surgeon came and got us and told us his tonsils and adenoids were HUGE and infected. All the gunk clogged up her sucker. {Gross I know!} But it reassured us once again that we made the right decision for our baby. I had walked Lauran down the hall to change her diaper when the doctor came for us, so Clint went back there with Hunter. He almost had to knock out a nurse who messed up Hunter's IV and ended up pulling it out. I am not sure we would have been able to keep it in him the whole hospital stay but there was no need for the nurse to be so rough with him.

Daddy and his baby

So swollen and so sad!

The hospital had a play room for the kids and had "Carrie" Bear come visit Hunter. He LOVED the bear and cried when the bear was leaving so the nurse asked the bear to meet Hunter in the play room to play for a little while. Hunter loved playing ball with the bear.

The bear had to go say hi to other friends (or was just really hot in the bear suit) so Hunter gave the bear big hugs and high fives goodbye. He yelled down the hall to tell Carrie that he loved her. A week later and he still asks about the bear.

He was a really good patient and drank and ate well right off the bat. He fell asleep on the couch behind Mommy while we were all eating and sitting on the couch. He wouldn't let the night nurse take his dinner plate away ALL NIGHT long. I guess he was afraid he might want something later. Ha!

Best part about it....Hunter could eat as many popsicles as he wanted :)

Mommy and Hunter had a slumber party at the hotel while Daddy and Grammie were taking care of Lauran at home.

Although I LOVE my snuggle bug more than life itself, I pray we never have to snuggle together in a hospital bed again. Talk about breaking Mommy's heart! We are so thankful to be half way through the healing process and pray our baby has a much better winter this year!
