When Hunter registered for the tournament he got his very first fishing hat :) He woke up every morning asking to wear his fishing hat and asking for his pole. So cute!
We think the key to him catching his fish was his breakfast of champions....berries and powdered donuts. Don't judge....it was vacation :)
We fished Friday and Saturday with no luck...not a single bite. :( Then on Sunday we were fishing on the pier. Hunter was enjoying casting and reeling his pole ALL BY HIMSELF. I was getting frustrated because I had to keep fixing his pole when the line would get twisted around the pole.
Grammie was sitting with Hunter while he was doing his own fishing, and all of a sudden she said Hunter you have a fish. He reeled it up all by himself. I have never seen a kid SO happy. He squealed and danced and was talking 90 to nothing about his fish. It was truly one of the happiest and proudest moments I have ever had simply because of how happy it made him. And look at the whopper he caught....wouldn't you be proud?
Since he was in a tournament, he got to go to the big stage to weigh in his catch. We got a weigh-in plastic bag, put some water in the bag for his fish, and then carried the fish up the hill to the weigh-in station. He insisted that he carry the fish all by himself! Then I couldn't believe it, but he went on the big stage by himself to weigh his fish in like a regular old pro.
Showing off his big catch :)
Here is his official weigh in slip. The lady said, he is two right..as she wrote down 2 on his slip. I said actually he is only 1. I can't believe baby boy caught his first fish, literally all by himself, when he was 1 but it came as no surprise to Clint :)
Since then Hunter has become a perch catching fool. I am so happy that Daddy and PawPaw have been able to catch fish with him now. This was truly a moment that I will never forget....and "he thinks we're just fishing" ;)

What a sweet moment! I am only sorry that Clint wasn't there to see it. ...but I am sure that this is the first of many!
ReplyDeleteYou mom had told me about this but your version is just precious. What a happy little boy. Congrats to Hunter!
