Ever since Christmas, Lauran has been sick with one illness or another. She got a virus that was a strand of the rotavirus that causes very runny yucky diapers and tummy troubles. This virus is so bad in little ones that they actually get a vaccine for it....at 6 months. So Lauran had not gotten the shot for it yet. This caused her to have 12+ runny diapers a day for what ended up being 12 days. That lead to blistered up diaper rash -- I have never seen anything so bad! Which then lead to a yeast infection on top of that because of the constant moisture. She couldn't sleep because she was constantly having these diapers which meant no one slept. During the stretch we found Hunter sleeping on the love seat, the couch, in our bed, on the floor...in random places all over the house. In fact, I even kicked him one night trying to put Lauran back to bed because he had gotten out of bed and fallen asleep in front of her door. Who knew I needed to look on the floor for sleeping children. UGH!
We finally got her through the virus and two days later found out she had an ear infection. After being on the antibiotics for her ear infection for a few days, she then got thrush in her mouth. Apparently antibiotics can also kill the good bacteria which lead the bad bacteria run wild in her mouth. SO over a month later and Lauran still has a few days left for her thrush medicine. In the midst of all of this, Lauran had her 6 month appointment. I will post more on that later but the long and short of it was that the pediatrician was worried about Lauran's hearing because she is not cooing or babbling. She laughs and she cries, but doesn't really make normal baby noises.
SO, off to Texas Children's we went today for a hearing test. Praise the Lord Lauran passed her hearing tests. The Audiologist said we have to watch her and there is a good chance we will have to talk ENT / tubes in her future because she has had ear infections and there was still fluid in her ears -- BUT her hearing looked perfect and she didn't recommend the ENT at this time.
So for now, our sweet baby girl is just content watching big brother :) We were told to really encourage her and praise her when she makes any noise, but she is a perfect little angel! We are so relieved and will be sleeping much better tonight! Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers and love and well wishes as this was one stressed out Mommy (and Daddy and family).
SOOOOO relieved to hear things went well with the hearing test!!! We were praying hard here for the little lady. Can't wait to see you this weekend :)
