Gone Hunting at the real lease

WAY back in December (weekend of the 14th), Daddy and PawPaw took Hunter to the deer lease to go deer hunting. Mommy wasn't quite sure about letting him go but he was so excited and Daddy promised they would take extra special care of him. So off they went on a boys trip to the deer lease. They left mid-day Friday, after basketball of course, and headed out to Jasper, Texas. They made it there just in time for the evening hunt. This is the boys in their deer stand.

Hunter loved checking out the windows for deer.

And he got really good at using the binoculars too. He kept being silly saying "there's one Daddy.... SHOOT IT" when there was nothing out there.

It got chilly in the mornings and evening so Daddy and PawPaw kept Hunter bundled up good. One of Hunter's favorite parts of hunting was his cool light that he got. {This is Hunter calling to check in with Mommy saying....We saw NOTHING}

And could life get any better than eating pizza at the deer lease?

The original plan was for one of the guys to sleep in with Hunter in the morning and then Hunter could hunt with them in the evenings. But Hunter woke up bright and early on Saturday morning. Daddy asked him if he wanted to relax and go back to sleep or go hunting and he was ready to go. So they loaded him up in his jammies and off to the deer stand they went.

Daddy had Hunter all set up in the stand with his Mickey apple juice, grapes, and coloring books.

But as you can imagine, hunting is tough work, so he took a much deserved nap in the deer stand every hunt too.

The last morning, Hunter went with PawPaw instead of Daddy. PawPaw stood him on a tree trunk while he got his stand unlocked. It just so happened that there were ants all over the tree stump so then there were ants all over Hunter. PawPaw did a good job and stripped Hunter down to his undies and got all of the ants off of him with minimal damage. They hunted hard all morning but didn't see any deer.

Two months later (in Feb) I asked Hunter if he wanted PawPaw to take him fishing and he said "yes Ma'am, but I don't go hunting with PawPaw." When I asked him why not he said, "PawPaw put me in that grass, and the bees got me, and they were on my belly and toes....ouchie...and PawPaw carried me and didn't let me walk up that ladder. Daddy let me go up that ladder." HaHa - apparently he remembered the ant attack clearly. Regardless all of the boys had a blast and can't wait to go hunting together again. I am so proud of them taking Hunter and as much as I missed them all it was really nice to get to have a girls weekend where I could love all over Lauran without dividing my attention. I see many years of happy hunting trips and memories in the future...just hopefully with less ants :)
