I recently started pulling out some of our halloween decorations. I started with those items that were accessible from Lauran's closet. One of things I pulled out was a candy pail that looked like a pumpkin. Hunter immediately knew what it was so we started talking about Halloween. After an in depth discussion, Hunter's understanding of Halloween goes like this.
Me: What do you do on Halloween?
Hunter: Knock, knock, knock
Me: Then I answer the door. What do you say?
Hunter: Tick or treat.
Me: Then I will say, oh what a handsome little {enter costume names here} (at the moment it is spiderman, a lion, a dino, or a gator). Then what will I do?
Hunter: Give me candy. I put it in here (his basket) all by myself.
Me: Yes! Then what do you say?
Hunter: Thank you!
Me: That's right. Then what? (Not knowing what he would say next...)
Hunter: Go to the next door. :)
Then we had to have a discussion about why people weren't ready yet and didn't have their candy because it wasn't quite Halloween. He was crying because he was ready to go. HaHa.
The next day he said, "bye bye Christmas." I asked him what he said because I was a bit confused. He said, "bye bye Christmas...I like Halloween." HaHa I love him!
